Arnel may sound similar to Steve Perry, but Arnel does NOT have what Steve Perry's got, and that is when Steve sings he sings his songs straight from the heart & with deep passion & emotion. All Arnel is doing is mimicking Steve Perry's sound , he is missing the deep emotion when he sings, It is much harder for AP to sing those songs with the kind of sincere deep passion & emotion like SP does when he sings. Plus it takes MORE than mimicking SP's sound to even come close to the level of SP's talent. Steve Perry has the WHOLE package going for him, he knows how to charm the audience & get the crowd excited & get them up on there feet. He has a real connection with his fans. Proof in that is after all these years he has not been in Journey his fans are still here years later supporting him. So AP is okay, I'm sure he is doing the best he can, it isn't his fault, it is just that NO singer could ever come close to matching ALL the exceptional talent of Steve Perry!!

I think Neal has been content to use Journey to make himself feel like a rock star for years now. The torturing of the national anthem got way old years ago. Perry's mark on that band cannot be duplicated by a mimic no matter how good a mimic or how nice a guy the mimic may be.

Yes that reviewer said Neal played "half a million notes" in his solo so certainly didn't sound impressed either. And I agree ,I believe Neal wants to be a big rock star, so he wants to keep the spotlight on HIMSELF, and Neal is wanting EVERYONE to know he is the front man & leader of Journey now. The problem is that all his "personal life drama" back fired on him and it brought on "negative attention from the media, instead of the "positive attention he was wanting to receive from the media for all his "personal achievements" in the music business. And that is the way it usually works in life, if you do others wrong in life, then more likely wrong will fall back heavily on you, more than it it did the ones you caused hurt or wrong to, so ultimately he did NOT achieve his personal goals of making it known that he is this great respected rock star to all his fans & music industry. That didn't happen for him the way he wanted it to!! That is just MY opinion for anyone who disagrees with me on the matter of Neal.
