I drove lauren to school today cuz she was being cranky and didnt want to take the bus, so after that I stopped at walmart no dvd, went to shullers bookstore, no dvd, went to sams - no dvd, went to Meijers - no dvd... Looked all over in music, new releases, dvds, everywhere no dvd. It has been a NASTY day here cold windy rainy and I am sick so after not finding it anywhere i just came home, i zonked from 11-3pm just flat out zonked out i guess my body needs it... Tomorrow stacey is off so i am gonna head over to the mall with her there are a few main stores there that one of them should have it (sam goody, suncoast, borders, best buy etc), just today i was frustrated not finding it, even asked at walmart and shullers if they had it but it wasnt out yet etc, no luck .. I should be able to grab it tomorrow tho, and hopefully feel better too. Bill

Bill, out here in California, I went to a FYE store at the local mall, and they had the DVD for $16.99 plus tax. They only had 4, so I bought all of them. ;D
If you have a FYE store in your area, try calling them. It is worth a shot.

Bill...it should be at your Best Buy. I got mine at the local one here this morning. They've had it for a few days, but couldn't put it out. Clerk said they would be fined $10,000 per copy if they break street date.

Hey Bill, I had the same problem you did, I went to my local Walmart store & they had three & all three were bought today, so then I checked in the mall & they sold all their's too. I called around to some other stores like Target, k -mart & they said they didn't have it at all. I was sooo frustrated that I couldn't find the DVD, so I called my son & he started checking around for it for me.
The store that had it was about "an hours drive" from my house, so my son went & got it for me, & is on his way home to bring it to me now. I'll find out how much he paid for it when he gets here.
Actually it won't matter what I have to pay for it, just VERY happy to get my DVD!!!

Got the dvd its nice to see and hear it in its best possible quality, was a bit sad to hear the 5.1 wasnt really a full rich sounding 5.1 compared to other 5.1 live recordings but i realize they did the best with what they had at the time (knowing this show is 25 yrs old and was "created" in 5.1 vs recorded the way many new shows are). But that being a very MINOR thing it still sounds and looks great compared to the vhs tape i had worn out a few years ago... FYI best buy deal was cool, walked in and upto desk and bam in and out in 3 mins flat. Box said 17.99 but online was 11.99 so they did it up at 11.99 , for a cd and a dvd thats an amazing deal. Bill

Bill, Steve made a point of saying to go into the menu and turn the Dolby OFF. Maybe that would make a difference? yeah first thing i did was go into the audio setup and switched it to 5.1 vs the default standard dolby, I even gave it a listen in standard dolby mode, and I agree with steve the dolby mode REALLY reduces the quality of the sound, sounds almost muffled in dolby no crisp highs. For the time period and the fact this wasn't really recorded in 5.1 but was "created" in the studio its pretty good (for what it is and how old it was and how it was recorded), I am just too spoiled with stuff like Eagles live, Rodger Waters live and Peter Gabriel live dvds from the last 4-5 years and how AMAZING they are in DTS or 5.1 etc, you close your eyes and literally "feel" like you are in the audience. Watched another 20 mins or so tonight here again pretty good for what they had to work with start wise, I wish they had done this 15 yrs ago vs waiting so long as I do see a few video glitches etc that probably just happened due to age of the masters tapes etc. Age and Time are the enemy of master tapes, that too is why I sure hope steve starts doing something with all that old stuff he never released, most of which is "in the can" most likely on tape. if nothing else I hope he is preserving it to CD or something...I just hope we dont have to wait till he dies to hear it like so many artists music that isn't released till they pass...and cuz i wish him a long healthy life it makes it harder to wait for more tunes hehe. Cool too to see this release in stores, i remember when frontiers and beyond came out, I ordered it thru the journey website but i dont think i ever recalled seeing it in a store for sale? That seemed more of a homebrew type thing they released for a while then all the sudden you couldn't get it - can you still get it thru journey website or anywhere else even? Bill

I think that Frontiers and Beyond was released briefly on DVD a couple of years ago by the Journey store, but there was a problem with the quality and they pulled it. They haven't offered it again yet.
I don't think they are even pushing this current DVD in their store yet. That seems very odd to me, but there is definitly a push for it in the stores that I'm glad to see. Maybe Steve will stay in this and release more stuff on DVD. The Escape DVD does say # II on it!!
