I think most of us know that Steve Perry was the Music Consultant for the film "Monster" directed by Patty Jenkins. This is an interview with Patty Jenkins: suicidegirls.com/words/Patty+Jenkins/This is the part about Steve! DRE: Did you get to hang with Steve Perry that much? PJ: Oh yeah all the time. He became one of my closest friends. That’s so insane because wanting Charlize and getting her was surreal enough. But during the shooting of the movie everyone was saying that we wouldn’t get that song [Journey’s "Don't Stop Believin”] and we shot that scene to the song. The producers watched the dailies and said that we had to get that song because it was so good in the scene. We spent all these months just speculating where Steve Perry is. We heard that he was a born again Christian and that he’s so difficult. Just like Charlize it got to a point where we had to go for it. Steve just shows up and asks us what we needed and how he could help.

That is just so cool.He must not be that difficult if he shows up like that.I did not like the movie but the song did fit in the scene.

It doesn't sound like Steve is "difficult" to me either. It's just a cool interview w/ Patty.
The movie was very disturbing to me...it was supposed to be, I suppose...one can't help but think if Aileen got the proper psychiatric help that things would've been different for her. Hard call, that one. It's all entirely speculation now.
Thanks for the interview Arden! Hugs!! Lee

yup sad life that she had. she needed so much help and no one got her the help or helped her when she was a child. I think by the time all that went down w/the 'john's' it was a bit too late- although i like to think 'somewhere theres hope' (hehe).
steve has said himself that he is sometimes difficult to work with ( i think the quote "im no day at the beach either")at times. No one is perfect.
But sounds like when its for a great' cause' he just helps out!

Actually I had heard of this happening back around 1992-1993 I think was the year. I had also read at the time in CCM magazine (Christian Contemporary Music Magazine) that he been doing some recording with Tim Miner (a CCM produce/artist) and that one of the songs he had actually recorded was a song titled "I Am". I had never heard the song - it was done by someone earlier (like Steve Camp, Brian Duncan - something like that). I read the article to a guy who is a BIG CCM man and he got teary eyed and said it was one of the most awesome songs and if SP sang it - then it would be beyone phenomenal. The song was about I am forgiven and is suppose to be (repeating for emphasis) a very powerful song. So --- fast fwd the clock to this year. It has never been released and when we were able to send in questions to SP at Fan Asylum I asked about that song and what I read. I know he is a private guy and all but I thought since things have been said before about this and the fact it was in CCM he would elaborate. None of my questions were answered. Sniff sniff Hope this answers or helps...
