Def Leppard is a good band, but the only way I WOULD pay that kind of money for a concert($75 to $80) is if Steve Perry was performing with Journey OR BETTER yet, Perry did a SOLO show , then I would be willing to pay that kind of money & more for Steve Perry!!! Perry's exceptional talent is definitely worth it!!!

Seeing Journey without Steve Perry it's like that movie "FRIDAY" where "Smokey" (Chris Tucker) said to "Gregg" (Ice cube) "D**n you got Kool-Aid NO Sugar", "You got Ham NO Burger", "Peanut Butter NO Jelly." Yeah that pretty much covers it. IMO More power to you all whom have mustard up the courage to do so.

It'll be interesting to see how long that vocal chord is going to hold up particularly after his recent "illness". They've already cancelled one show. It's been rumored that Augeri uses serious backup tapes for years. There have been discussions even at BT about it...they always get deleted, but the discussions were there, if you were a quick reader, and it's not "Top Secret" or "inside info that would destroy the band" as some recent discussions would lead you to believe. People at shows have caught him lip synching. Augeri has never been able to fill Perry's shoes. He first started using the tapes then had Deen filling in on some songs. There ya go....Def Leppard absolutely didn't want to take turns opening the shows, so in order to ride on THEIR coattails, UNJ becomes an opening act. Bravo, Neal...taking it to the basement yet again. If he isn't riding Perry's coat tails, he's riding Def Leppards's. They can't stand on their own, with a majority of their own new material and proudly sink or swim. It is about money...that's all. You can't tell me that Neal and Jon aren't sick to death of playing the dirty dozen with a singer on his last vocal chord who has no writing chemistry with any of them. Neal, Jon and Ross have nothing else that will even remotely generate the income that the Journey "name" will bring, so they will use it till they drop over dead. I can remember when the name Journey meant world class talent and no compromise, under any circumstances. I guess that was just the Steve Perry version of Journey, not this one.

I didn't know that Augeri was using backup tapes, but I've always known that he could NEVER fill Perry's shoes anyway!
And after hearing this about Augeri "using backup tapes", how dare anyone knock Perry's voice & talent, Perry gave the the fans his ALL in EVERY performance, and "deserves great credit" for that , NOT all the negative stuff that others have said about his singing voice over the years.

LOL, I knew it, it was a matter of time! Dam* and to think of all the cheap shots everyone has been taking at Perry. I only hope that he is considering doing something. I hope he has something to sing to us about he doesn't have to sound the same as he did 20-something years ago ! WE have ALL evolved! Come out and play we've been here waiting for you ALL along

That is insane, back up vocal tapes? Are you sure? That is really bad if it is true. For people to waste money to see a wannabe Steve with back up tapes. Yikes!!!

ultraswt, I believe that it is true about Augeri using backup tapes.
And what really makes me mad is that so much "negative stuff" has been said by others somewhere else( Not here on this board) about Perry's voice & talent, I 'd like to see those people "eat crow" now!
Hey, WE Perry Fans NEVER stopped believing in his voice & talent! The Perry Years are the GREATEST!!!

So sad that "The Band Formerly Known As Journey" has been reduced to an opening act. Such a crying shame really. But really, in all honesty, did we really think Neal and Jon could carry on the name in true Journey style and fashion? Steve washed his hands of them for a reason. Which is why he emphatically states (every chance he gets) to remind one and all he no longer belongs to the present band named Journey. He seems as ashamed as we are IMHO. But on the other hand I am secretly laughing at Neal and Jon and their 'attempt' to keep the name in lights!
oops...on another note... Def Lep is an awesome amazing band who can show N&J the true meaning of a band sticking together through thick and thin, injuries and all. Maybe N&J will learn somethng from Joe and boys about being a true band..well one can only hope eh?

The commercial for the Def Leppard and Journey concert plays a little snippet of them and they sound awful - worse than when I saw them on tv a few months ago at some biker rally. Augeri has evidently ruined his voice trying to sound like Perry and keep up the pace. They burnt out one singer, didn't they learn anything? If they wanted a Perry sound-alike they should have gotten Hugo, at least he can sing.

Most D.J.s feel this way. I heard "Foolish Heart" on the radio yesterday and the D.J. said, " That guy is the best thing that ever happened to Journey."
That band is just plain lucky this year to be opening for Def. No matter what spin Neal puts on it, they've become an opening act.
