I turned on VH-1 Classic to (again) watch the Houston '81 Journey concert. Just before Perry walks onstage and the concert starts, GUESS what advertisement was on? That's right! Def Leppard with UNJ. Then they go directly into Steve Perry singing Escape in concert. That is some really crappy false and misleading advertising!!!

I didn't get to see it, had some people making a repairs to my house, so stuck dealing with that , but that figures, I guess it just goes to show, the band still NEEDS Perry to sell tickets for their concerts.

This kind of thing just isn't right! Come on if you gonna advertise Journey of "TODAY" use your music from what these past 2 CD's that they've manged to put out in 8 YEARS that get NO air play and see how many come and see you? Things that make you go hummmm?I turned on VH-1 Classic to (again) watch the Houston '81 Journey concert. Just before Perry walks onstage and the concert starts, GUESS what advertisement was on? yeah that´s right,I think they would have to play much smaller clubs if they only would play songs from the last albums with Augeri but I think that would be the right thing for this line up to do coz why sticking to the Perry era when he´s not in the band anylonger? they could as easily play songs from the Bad English albums since they are just as many 3/5 original members off BE as they are as Journey. anyone else here more than me that thinks trial by fire is an underrated album that needs more attention around at the boards/forums. i love that album!

Kaj, no disrespect here but if they don't play the old school they couldn't survive. Hence the 2 cd's they made in 8 years. I would like to ask you why would Journey resort to using Bad English music if this is the "NEW" Journey YET they continue to ride on Perry's coat tails? We would not be in this predicament had they gave Perry time to have the surgery and heal properly and and not let him go. "Journey of today" should NOT resort to playing Bad English music for god sakes they are Journey, and according to the "new followers" supposedly they are better than the Perry ERA Yeah I'll believe that just like I'll believe Bush won fair and square Maybe that is why they are breaking records, selling out concerts, selling cd/dvds, being televised, played on radio and goshdarn it recieving awards after awards I said this before and I'll say it again "Neal & Cain had no right to continue on with the name Journey, they should of waited for Perry". The majority of the concert goer connects with the lead vocals = "The Singer" and I am really sadden to say Agueri does not fit the bill and NOONE else will either!

I agree that they should play more of the Augeri era music and truly "move on" as they claim they have. The fact that they don't shows that they have no confidence in the material or the singer, IMO. I love TBF. I think it is one of their best. It shows a lot of maturity. I particularly like the spiritual references in the lyrics. It is truly underated. yeah that´s right,I think they would have to play much smaller clubs if they only would play songs from the last albums with Augeri but I think that would be the right thing for this line up to do coz why sticking to the Perry era when he´s not in the band anylonger? they could as easily play songs from the Bad English albums since they are just as many 3/5 original members off BE as they are as Journey. anyone else here more than me that thinks trial by fire is an underrated album that needs more attention around at the boards/forums. i love that album!

I have provided a link to the discussion - hopefully they will not mind. gman was very good in putting his thoughts into writing. www.journeymusic.com/ubb/Forum2/HTML/030622.htmlAnd may I say again - I think TBF was definitely their best project.

Great post by gma! He made alot of good points in his post.
Journey has "lowered'' their standards with the current line up now. Journey is definitely not the same EXCELLENCE of standards that it was Perry, Smith, Cain, Ross, & Schon.
TBF is one of my favorite Cd's of Journey! I listen to it all the time I love many of the songs on the CD, but "Don't Be Down On Me Baby" is sooooo moving of a song & the way Perry sings it, just blows me away!!
The band did an excellent job on that CD & played so GREAT together!

Arrival had a couple of decent songs - nothing outstanding. And I'm sorry but when I listened to it I kept listening for those effortless, soaring vocals and they JUST AREN'T THERE. I think they tried playing their new stuff on one of their tours and it didn't go over well at all - one review I read said they kept trying to get the crowd to sing along and no one knew the words (duh). Those people can rant all they want but for me the bottom line is - IF IT AIN'T STEVE PERRY, IT AIN'T JOURNEY. I don't have the money to "support" a band I just "accept" even if I wanted to. And why should I "move on?" Always been a Perry fan, always will be. I like Elvis music too and I don't hold out much hope of seeing him in concert either, lol.
