>>Jeez Jonathan, Having sat within six feet of Perry singing in a recording studio within the last 10 months, I know his voice is (and pitch) is as good as anytime since the mid-Eighties. And having known you through this list for (many many) years, I'd say you've recently grown bored and feel the need to poke somebody in the ribs ;] Rock on!

Joe, that's fantastic to hear that Perry's voice is still strong. Due to his hibernation for more than a decade, and his poor performance on that song I mentioned ("I Stand Alone"), I was guilty of believing the rumors of his voice's demise. I'm glad to hear that those rumors were unfounded.
I'm sure all of us would love to see and hear Steve Perry singing with Journey again. I don't think it will ever happen, and I guess I've just grown tired of people dumping on Steve Augeri. I don't know who could have done a better job in trying to take over for Perry. What shoes to fill.....
I hope Perry will decide to record again. It's a shame it's been so long since he's put something out there for the world to hear. I would prefer that if he records again that he records songs written by or with Neal Schon and Jonathan Cain. I felt like his last solo album was as far away from Journey as Dennis DeYoung's solo efforts were away from Styx. The sum truly is greater than the parts so to speak....
Thanks for the good news regarding Perry's voice. I happily stand corrected.
Jonathan

Hey, I 've NEVER stopped believin in Perry's ability to sing, I know he's still GOT IT!!!
BTW, what did Jon mean by his remark of Perry's poor performance on "I Stand Alone"?? , I think Perry's performance was fantastic on that song! I love that song!!
It is great to see uncle joe "stand up for Perry" that way, and certainly lets OTHER fans KNOW that have critizised Perry's voice for quite some time that they were in the WRONG about Perry!

It would be interesting to know the date that Joe posted to that site. I know that the boston.org post was just made public in the last couple of days, but what was the date of the original post? Anyone know?? Ten months ago would have been last August or maybe July??? >>Jeez Jonathan, Having sat within six feet of Perry singing in a recording studio within the last 10 months, I know his voice is (and pitch) is as good as anytime since the mid-Eighties. Agreed. I'd like to know the date that Joe said that, too. Something just doesn't seem to jive. Refresh my memory, please. When was the World Series? (since I didn't become a big baseball fan till then! LOL)

No one is their right mind (which is key here) would say that Steve did anything but an exceptional performance on I Stand Alone.

I got confused & thought that this was Jonathan Cain speaking that way about Perry, so it was someone else saying this. I think Perry performed this song, "I Stand Alone" Perfectly!!! It is one of my many favorites!
