QUOTE: The first review I got was from Troy Barwick. It reads: "Just got home from the Bristow, VA show. WOW! Jeff Scott Soto was amazing. He sounded perfect. No flubs. Right on with every song. His voice sounded just like Steve Perry. Tonight we saw a band that seemed to have an energy they haven't had in years. I was floored by how perfect they sounded, and Jeff's energy was amazing." COMMENT: How in the freakin' HOW can someone think JSS sounds like SP?! No freakin' way! SA sounded more like SP than JSS. This does prove the old the proverb: Two wrongs do not make it right.

Yeah, it was all sounding really good until the "just like Perry" comment reared it's head.

I really wish they would stop comparing the singers to Perry!
Neither one of theses guys sound like Perry.
Steve Augeri was just an "OK singer" that TRIED to sound like Perry, but was NOT even close, and JSS brings his OWN "Powerful vocals" & "talent" to the band! That is a good thing about JSS!! Let JSS HAVE HIS OWN IDENTITY!!
Anyways, the way I see it, there is NO ONE THAT CAN SING & PERFORM Like Steve Perry!!!!

There's some reviews & stuff on the first page of Melodicrock, sounds like JSS is doing great. I do take exception to the statement that he sounds "virtually identical" to Perry - I don't think anyone on the planet sounds virtually identical to Perry. JSS is probably a great front man and can handle the material but I don't know, Perry just had a feeling and emotion in his voice that I've never heard before or since. I mean, they're HIS songs! Also says that ticket sales are up - ka-ching! (That's the sound of poor old Auggie's stone cracking...) sparkle

the ticket sales are up because some people thought that Perry would return and fill the shoes after Augeri however,if only they knew better.....Perry won´t fill in for anyone,he´s the one everybody is trying to fill in for but rarely succeed doing it. i don´t mind JSS but he´s not the right man for the job. this line up reminds more of a Bad EngSoul Sirney. Perhaps they could ask Goeli to play some rhythm guitar so half Hardline were in it too. Journey is starting to feel like White Snake/Deep Purple/Rainbow with members changing bands but still playing with eachother. Hrm.

I am curious to see this new line up, but absolutely understand your concern and frustration! Wondering what your answer to this problem would be?? How would you handle this if you were Journey/Journey management? May I say I have always leaned towards Journey NEVER having gone on without Perry, at least under the name Journey. But having been worn down and pissed off enough, I am listening to options...lol!! Tell me your ideas! thanks

That's just it, Perry was the only "right" man for the job. He had the vocal ability, the stage charisma, the writing chemistry, the good business sense, the desire to give fans 100% at every show and the ba!!s to get in Neal's face and challenge him on the direction of the band. They can hire all the singers they want to, but it's never EVER going to be anything like it was when the real deal was standing on that stage with them. They are so far below that level of creativity and passion they all once had. I'm just glad Augeri is not their front man anymore. He did alot of damage to the band and to himself, trying to be the Perry clone they wanted him to be. I do like JSS, though. I think his voice is so much stronger and if he brings his own vibe and style, then I can live with it. Nobody can replace Perry and nobody should be trying that stupid mistake again.

I went to the Journey/ Def leppard concert last night !!! awesome!! Journey did 17 songs and JSS did a good job as lead! I still close my eyes and wish Steve Perry was on stage singing but to hear the music and see the energy that goes on is very exciting! the place was packed and the crowd sang along with all the songs, no new stuff ,all the old tunes, I can only imagine what the place would have been like if STEVE PERRY stepped on stage! he so rules!!!
