So, Bill, how do you feel about the new lead singer?? ;D ;D The reviews seem to be very favorable and one even said he got off the stage and "mingled" with the crowd. Not sure if I mentioned....

Bill, we need to know how you REALLY feel about JSS! LOL Yeah, he's gonna shake things up a bit, I think, in a good way. I'm a bit concerned about the prune face Cain has been wearing lately, but maybe it will work out.

Well I have been digging around (im not on my normal pc) it fell ill to a bad power supply, I dug out in the garage on a hard drive i had from like 4 yrs ago, stuck it in an external case plugged in thru usb cord on this loaner laptop from a neighbor, and I knew I had some old yngwie on it, sure enough found an old JSS concert and was listening to it on and off all day today, man that guy has a voice! Now I agree 1000% NOBODY is a Steve Perry, that goes for Neil Diamond, Frank Sinatra, Rod Stuart, David Lee Roth, Dennis DeYoung etc etc they all have unique voices that we instantly can recognize and some we love and some we don't thats all preference I guess, Perry is/was great too in his own unique vocal way. I dig JSS alot believe me I do but I don't think JSS has carved a nitch into history as HIS OWN really yet, maybe at best being the voice of ROCKSTAR (probably his biggest known thing OVERALL so far) soul sirkus yes rocked but lets be honest ask 10 people on the street tomorrow, probably 5-6 saw and remember the vocals from Rockstar the movie but your lucky if 1 knows who sang it, and ask those same 10 about soul sirkus and I bet your lucky if 2 heard of the band even much less could name a song off the cd or tell ya who sang in the band. As for his Yngwie stuff again not mainstream stuff, mostly guitar heads metal heads from the 80's know or remember that and Yngwie went thru quite a few other singers too so it wasn't just JSS. So this new Journey gig thing has potential to put him up the ladder in the spotlight to the point where SO many people will learn his name and experience his voice, we will see I guess what happens with that... One thing I DO know is that he has the voice to keep up with the Journey tunes, if you haven't heard the older harder Yngwie stuff I might make a few audio clips up to let ya hear him NAIL high hard long notes, I would say after doing that stuff Journey would be cake. Bill That would be great Bill! Would love to hear what you've got! I am ready to give him a chance because watching someone slaughter the Journey catalogue was excruciating. If the "forgettable" Augeri was allowed to go any longer, Journey was about to also become forgettable. The front man is everything to me and many other fans I am sure. Perry can't be replaced, NEVER.....but if this band insists on continuing without him then at least give the music the justice it deserves. Thank you very much!

Here are two min clips from Nakano Sun Plaza in Tokyo on January, 24th 1985 with Yngwie Malmsteen Jeff Soto is singing, these are heavy songs (metalish sounding) but still great voice I think especially for being live stuff, I could zap a clip off the studio recording and have it be perfect but sometimes the live stuff has more feel to it, I listen to alot of Perry live stuff and he actually sounds different all the time show to show to me at least. BTW Stacey HATES this music, can't stand when I crank up anything like Dokken, Priest, Dio, Yngwie etc but then again I can't stand her Garth Brooks cds either, at least we meet on common ground with classic rock (Boston, Heart, Queen, Styx and of course Journey) and I have good headphones for when I do wanna rock out hehe. www.yousendit.com/transfer.php?action=download&ufid=2596D226672A9AB6 & www.yousendit.com/transfer.php?action=download&ufid=EF243E335A9E1399I think yousendit leaves clips up for about a week then deletes them, so click and listen while ya can. I realize this music is NOT Journey type music but I just dig Yngwie and Soto from back then so thought some might like to hear a clip or two of him singing a bit heavier stuff. Bill
