Me too. I've ordered the Robin Flans Journey book also, so hopefully some good reading & "new" photos soon. I did notice that the Steve book is unauthorized, I hope it's accurate. Maybe he will make a statement about it sometime.

The author is a member of the Journey forum at the Crock. From her posts, I believe she is very much a fan of Steve's and her work, though unauthorized, is probably accurate. She has stated that she had no contact with Steve while writing it. www.melodicrock.com/Friday, September 08, 2006 STEVE PERRY'S LIFE JOURNEY DETAILED IN NEW BOOK: Press Release / Laura Monica Cucu is the author of the first book about one of the best singer of all times: Steve Perry, former lead singer of the group Journey. The biography, called Steve Perry - A singer's journey is a detailed story of Steve Perry's career throughout three decades, both as the lead singer of Journey and as a solo artist. Steve Perry - A singer's journey takes a close look on Steve Perry's evolution as a singer and reveals an amazing story about rock music, hard work, talent, inspiration, fame and commitment. The book also contains a picture section with original Mike Hausmann photos and a special chapter with real stories written by the fans who attended Journey or Steve Perry live shows throughout the years. Laura Monica Cucu wrote Steve Perry - A singer's journey after two years of researching and studying Steve Perry's public activity and work. "The first time I heard Steve Perry singing I immediately knew he was a different kind of an artist.", said Laura Monica Cucu. "The quality and uniqueness of his voice, the feelings and the sincerity conveyed in his performance, not to mention his first-class vocal style were absolutely fascinating. I was looking at a one-of-a-kind artist." For anyone who wants to understand how could the gift of absolute talent be a blessing and a torture at the same time, for anyone who wants to comprehend that real success comes with sweat, blood and tears, this is a book that will reveal all that. About Author - Laura Monica Cucu is a Romanian native, born in 1970 in the beautiful land of Transylvania in Europe. Starting 1990 she began working in the mass-media as a producer, hosting several Radio and TV shows. By mid '90s she started writing editorial columns in various magazines covering a large category of subjects from music reviews to political editorials and satirical articles. She is a member of a professional journalists association from Western Romania and currently she is enriching her education by attending the History and Philosophy College. Laura Monica Cucu published her first book in the year of 2000 - a collection of short novels and poems which was greatly received by the Romanian readers. The present book is her first English language work. Steve Perry - A singer's journey can be purchased through Lulu.com's On-line Bookstore at: www.lulu.com/content/369518 <http://www.lulu.com/content/369518>. she is truly beautiful wow. it will be interesting to see waht steve says or does if anything on this. i know he didnt want a certain 'tribute' band to put out any cds etc that was stopped. sooo. s The author of the book has/had been in contact with Perry's attorney's, and they have discussed the book. While no agreement was made, she was left with doing whatever she wanted to do.
I don't doubt for a minute that Steve's attorney's have a few copies of this book, and that Steve will get one. I don't see anything wrong in what she has done, nor do I see Steve yanking the book off the market. From the small excerpt I read on lulu.com, it is a beautifully written book. One I think Steve could be proud of.

I know it is only a matter of time before I start receiving emails on this, so let me say this now. I have no knowledge of this book or the author. I went to the site and read what is available on the book and noticed I am thanked. I'm not sure why since I had no input on or knowledge of this project. Please do not make any assumptions that Steve Perry has read or even knows about this book. I'm sure the author put alot of time, effort and care into her book and I am not trying to discredit it or her, but I do not want anyone thinking I was involved. Thanks.

Lora is correct in saying that she didn't know about the book. The author thanked Lora in her book because of Lora's hard work at bringing news out about Steve. You can read Lora's and the authors posts to each other here...............forums.melodicrock.com/phpBB/viewtopic.php?t=19143&start=60

Lora, do you have any reason to believe that Steve would be angry or offended by this book?? I've just been very shocked at some of the unkind things that have been said on various message boards about it and the author. I know it is only a matter of time before I start receiving emails on this, so let me say this now. I have no knowledge of this book or the author. Thanks, Lora for pointing out that you had nothing to do with the book's content, directly. The writer was just thanking you for maintaining accurate info on Steve at Fan Asylum, where she did some of her research. Understood!
I haven't read the book, but it would be nice to see some of the well documented things about his solo work and things like old tour dates with Journey, etc. all in one place. I really don't know what all is included in the book. The fan stories of seeing him live are a nice thing to include. Hey, as long as it is well written and portrays Steve as one of the greatest talents of modern times, then I'm all for it I think the writer is from Romania and has never seen Steve perform live. If anyone reads this soon, please post your thoughts on the content.
