In the past I had been told over and over by many people some of whom I never even knew, that steve perry is not online and doesn't even use a computer, you wouldn't even believe the depth of some emails I got explaining how steve is not a techie blah blah blah, so many fans think they know all it kills me, anyways after talking to Moyes I was well aware he was online and does use a computer but there is no reason to argue so I just let it go and didn't bring up the subject again till now.
The article about the sopranos made me chucke, wish I saved all those emails i got way back when they all said steve isn't a techie and doesnt even own a computer
JOURNEY'S STEVE PERRY THINKS SOPRANOS FINALE HIT RIGHT NOTE: From People Magazine / By Bryan Alexander.
While fans might wish the Sopranos could go on and on and on, at least one of the 11.9 million viewers of the show's Sunday finale felt the controversial ending hit the right note. Former Journey frontman Steve Perry co-authored the 1981 song Don't Stop Believin', which provided the soundtrack for Tony Soprano's final HBO moments. He talked to People.com about holding on to the feeling.
People: When did you get the request to use the song for the finale? Steve Perry: A few weeks [ago]. I needed to know how this song was going to be used. I didn't want the song to be part of a blood-bath, if that was going to be the closing moment. In order for me to feel good about approving the song use, they had to tell me what happened. And they made me swear that I would not tell anybody. The song use actually just got approved last Thursday.
Was there any even implied threat that you'd get whacked if you told anybody the ending? (Laughs.) Yeah, Tony was gonna whack me if I talked. No, I didn't get any life threats. But I had to keep it quiet. I had friends that were really upset at me. They knew I knew.
Where did you end up watching the show? I watched it here in my house in Del Mar; I'm just north of San Diego. On my flat screen, yeah. Hi def, by the way. (Laughs.) Actually, I was home alone that night.
The Sopranos Finale: What's the Verdict? What was it like from your couch? I loved when Tony is going through the little jukebox at the table. They stayed really tight on Tony Bennett, and I thought, "Well, there it is, Tony would play Tony Bennett." He presses the buttons and the next thing you know a Journey song starts. But the tension was insane. I'm getting worried that he's being whacked. And then they cut back, and Tony looks up and it goes black. In my opinion, he sees his daughter, but I guess we'll never know the ending. But the point of the song playing is that you just don't give up, life goes on even if you're the Sopranos. It doesn't matter what you do for a living. In the midst of his turbulent life and everything, there's always this sense of family and this sense of dreams and hopes for some kind of normalcy – some kind of don't-give-up, don't-stop-believing feeling. I actually shouted "All right!" at the end.
What's the reaction been? The phone has been ringing off the hook and my email has been on fire. One friend e-mailed me, "Congratulations. The end of the entire legacy of the Sopranos ended with your song." What bigger honor is that? Have you gotten a call from The Simpsons or anyone else with a show about to end? You know, South Park might be next.

Bill, I've never interpreted what Steve said about being online as he is computer illiterate or not online at all, just that he isn't visiting chat rooms and message boards talking with people. Oh please - what famous person could resist at least Googling him/herself? Heck, I'm nobody and I Googled myself lol. I'm sure Steve is perfectly aware of what's going on, and probably thanking his luck stars he's no longer involved...

That's the way I thought he meant it too, that he was not in chat rooms talking to people, People were claiming to be him in the chat rooms , and he was just making it clear it wasn't him. He obvisiously owns a computer though because he says he gets email. he knows about the popularity of these websites about him for sure! cause I heard when he met Kathy from Perryville he said to her..."I believe I owe you money". I believe he was referring to her make a wish fundraising which he is a part of, but he's definitely tapped in somehow.

To clear things up it wasn't that I meant that steve himself said i am not online and not a techie, it was old boards (most of which are gone now) with some rabid fans who would question if steve even knew how to use a computer or anything technical etc.
I wish I kept those emails, way back when I first started the hotel board I had dozens of private emails and messages coming in from people who questioned everything that was posted by anyone in anyway, as if they knew this or that and what that other person posted or said was 100% wrong and they were right etc.
I knew there was a presence from the perry camp stating he isn't online in places like myspace or as a poster on boards or with an official presence on the web except when he would go thru fan asylum, i got that and understood it, i just think too many people twisted up facts and i mentioned one thing about emails oneday and got bombarded with emails about how it was CLEAR steve didn't use computers and was in fact anti-tech in everyway, i was like WTF are these people smoking? (especially after talking to Moyes who did confirm yeah steve has a computer, uses his email often, etc etc).
I guess I was just pointing out from his own words that yeah steve does admit to having and using a computer and having and using tech stuff (hidef tv etc).
Sorry if I ruffled any feathers, just giggled when I thought back on those emails telling me how wrong i was to assume he would even use a computer or whatever, that to me seemed odd to read steve isn't online doesnt use myspace etc, then to twist that to the extreme saying he doesn't even own a computer and doesn't even like technology...
Onto the next topic i guess. Bill

I realize here we have some sane folks who wouldn't twist one thing into another and these were just a handful of people who were emailing me privately about the subject, overall we all know when a myspace page or webpage or poster in a board says "I AM THE REAL STEVE PERRY" that yeah unless theres a link on fan asylum or you hear steve say it on the radio or something direct and official, that its sadly probably not real or true... I was just was frustrated that those statements were suddenly twisted and suddenly they assumed that steve doesn't even own or use a computer and has no desire to use tech products of anykind (sort of an anti tech person) which I never got the vibe of him being such. I never read or heard anywhere from him directly in anyway that he didn't like technology or whatnot, and in fact from Moyes I learned yes he uses the computer often and has email etc, it was a few yrs ago tho so I guess it just sat in my mind as not worth arguing about with a small portion of people who were grouping together to send me the messages (heck it could have been one person using multiple emails now that I think back), but I hope if any of those who were on that side of the fence are reading steves interviews now and are at least understanding yeah steve isn't putting his stuff out there on myspace messageboards or an official website but he does use computers and likes technology stuff, im just a big tech buff so i was happy to hear steve confirm some of that i guess, silly i know... Now we just gotta hope someday he gets savy enough to open an itunes or website with direct download purchases of some of that canned stuff he owns and never released... Bill

I think these days things are a bit different when it comes to the subject of Steve Perry, 8-10 yrs ago or so when you saw a Steve Perry post or board it was an immediate fight who are you loyal to Journey or Steve Perry and sadly too many fans got divided in that respect. And when I started the first Hotel and had a Pro Perry website I think immediately instead of a community of fellow fans I had suddenly made enemies I didn't even know about. These days I think there is a lot less tension, years have passed maybe some of the boiling blood has simmered i dunno, i never really understood it all anyways how so many fans divided so quickly. All I knew is I dug Journey and Neal Schons guitar work but I also really dug Steve Perry's voice and was sad as a fan they weren't together anymore. Ok i got off topic sorry (and its my own topic lol). Hope everyone has a great weekend, Bill

Perryville donates money in his name to Make A Wish Foundation. Nor is he a member of that site. And maybe one of the reasons why he knows about these sites is because Lora and Cyndy from Fan Asylum knows about them? Perry does talk to them from time to time.

I'm betting that he reads the sites. Neal said that HE did. When Steve does his Q&A, you can't tell me that he isn't going to check to see what the reaction is to any of his answers.
I wish that Perry would open his Steveperry.com. He could say that he will only answer every 100th post.
