Well this part of the forum is kinda dead so I'll put in my little memory. The Omni arena, Atlanta, 1986 , Journey with Glass Tiger opening. Hubby and I have seats about half way up. We got there early cause the weather was getting iffy - kinda sleety. We decided to walk around to kill some time even though it was cold, so we walk around the building. When we get to the back, we heard this strange noise. Hubby said "what the hell is THAT?" I nearly died - it was STEVE, making those yodeling noises to warm up his voice. Not throught the sound system either - he was just on the other side of that wall! I heard him laugh, then someone started twanging a guitar and I couldn't hear anymore (thanks Neal). Anyway, that was about the closest I've ever gotten to Steve. And by the way that was an AMAZING show - it was the night they filmed the "I'll Be Alright Without You" video. If they were miserable, fighting, etc. you certainly couldn't tell by the show they put on, they looked like they were having a ball. Still have my t-shirt too!

Thanks for posting that! I remember reading how amazed everyone was (including the road crew) at all the stuff Steve sang to warm up before the shows...all kinds of things, including classical. If we all knew then what we know now...someone would have taped EVERYthing!

Thanks Sparkle2 for sharing! I know we all have goosebump stories of either songs, concerts, or whatever involving Journey and SP --- I wish more people would share MORE OFTEN! (hint, hint) And I agree 100% with you - during the ROR show there is no way I would have ever - EVER expected problems. They were enjoying it. Which - I guess goes back to what SP has said before --- its about the MUSIC and the interaction with the FANS. Something I am sure one can't get use to is having over 30,000 people singing along with you and energizing you for 2-3+ hours. WOW If I click my heels can I go back in time to the performing days. <click click> <click click>

That's the only time I've ever seen Steve live - I had tickets for FTLOSM but my city got cancelled He was (is) such an amazing showman. I was practically in the nosebleed seats and I could have been the only person in that arena, you just felt like he was singing to YOU. When he sang Faithfully I don't think there was a dry eye in the house! And every time I see Randy Jackson on A.I., I remember that pink polka dotted bass and the Gumby-head hairdo, lol. Dawg! :Dsparkle
