Sherman set the wayback machine for 1987-88...
Very long story as short as I can make it (to get to the point faster) I met Stacey (my wife now of 12 yrs as of june 25th), and we worked together for over a year (both dating other people) then timing wise ended up both single and were good friends so we decided to go out to see a movie one night.
At that first date we both drove ourselves, yet our second date I went to pick her up and had infinity on in the car, I remember we went to some park by her house ...
Anyways I didn't think much of it cuz I always listened to Journey in the car but her first reaction was I LOVE JOURNEY! So I knew I was doing good picking this gal from the start... hehe
I remember making tapes for my car from my lps (remember those days kids?) and playing those tapes in the car, oh how times have changed.
But you know how people always recall a song when they first met or danced or something, for me it was the Infinity tape in the car that was the first sign ok this girl and I are gonna get along even better than I thought.
The rest of course is long sappy history then of course Lauren came along in 2000 for us OMG I can't imagine or even remember life without her and even at 5 she can pick out a sam cooke or steve perry tune in an instant!
Of course tapes are out, cds and mp3's are in, Lauren has a box of my old tapes and listens to them with her fisherprice tape player now and then.
Going thru that box recently when she wanted a tape she could RECORD on vs just listen to I saw the old Infinity tape in the box, pulled it out (yeah i know its the same music as the cd and all) but the tape made me smile thinkin of the story and our 12th anniversary is coming up so I might just be borrowing that fisherprice tape player from Laurens room
I can only hope that as Lauren grows older she continues to at least listen to the stuff we play for her as a reminder of her youth, I listen to alot of Neil Diamond now (grew up on him with my mom) so I guess thats a good start at a hope for Lauren to do the same...
Ok time to set the wayback machine back to 2006, the 80's cheese flashback is over ... but it was fun to run into that old tape again here recently...
