Tivo catches Oprah for Stacey each day and I almost erased it (seemed like a silly show) but the last 15 mins there was this singer named James Blunt and he sang two songs.

He strikes me as a bit odd yet likeable, sings in a style I might not say is my absolute favorite but something about him comes thru when you see him perform live like he did on Oprah especially the second song he did wow...
The first was Beautiful a song I had heard but never knew the singer it was nice to connect the face with the song.
The second was Goodbye My Lover and this guy may not have the huge powerful range / voice Mr Perry has and it may annoy some even (he sings in a higher range than most), BUT he there is real emotion that POURS out of his songs and words - it was captivating to watch.
I kept listening to the words watching him sing and his intensity was rising yet this is all happening thru this slow piano song, at one point I thought this guy is gonna start shaking and breakdown crying at any moment, he didn't but it was powerful to watch live and his emotions came thru clear.
I don't know if I would feel it the same way about the song if I didn't watch it or hear it live, but watching it was an inspiring performance.
The last artist that had that effect on me was Rob Thomas of Matchbox 20, he has a presence and unique way of delivering a song, I knew a few songs from radio but wasn't a big fan UNTIL one night late it was on a late night talk show he sang a few songs and when i saw the live performance that came out of him i was hooked and have been since.
I will give a few other songs of James Blunt a listen away from the tv and see if it has the same effect but watching his live performance was interesting...
