Interesting that he seems to have a high regard for Steve's talent...as he should, but maybe they are "at odds" with him for handling professional issues so unprofessionally.

Heading back to Los Angeles. Went to go and pack up my stuff in waterlogged NY, but decided it looked just fine there (or I was lazy and didn't know where the hell to put everything!), so... I spent a night and canceled the movers! A waste of time! Anyway, saw this picture of Steve Perry and Steven Tyler on Ross Halfin's site - a hysterical blog, by the way - and felt compelled to make a comment, having worked with them both - and highly unlikely to do so again, as they're both at odds with me for one reason or another. Perry (I'm told) because of something to do with the Journey live album Greatest Hits Live, although I'm honestly not sure what, as he heard every song as it was fixed and mixed and was the only one in place to approve everything, both Neal and Jon having washed their hands of such things about Raised On Radio time. And Tyler because both Columbia Records and the rest of Aerosmith wanted Nine Lives recut - and he was happy about the Alanis Morrisette vibe that he'd created with Glen Ballard - and didn't want to redo anything. So, now I'm in the dogbox, shitbox, whatever cardboard box it was that the unpacked full-length Rock God mirrors deserted to be narcissistically peered upon! Goes with the territory, I guess. Anyway, they are probably the most talented singers I've worked with. I am not saying it to blow smoke up their asses, (like I care) but they are extraordinary singers, and I've been so privileged to have worked with some great ones - Robert Plant, Bruce Dickinson, Daniel Johns, Chrissie Amphlett, Chris Robinson - to name just a few of the exceptional! Steve Perry has a voice that's so brilliant - he blends his Sam Cooke R&B vibe with his angelic voice to create an awesome etheric sound - and I am a great fan. And Tyler is so good - he's kooky as the Arctic summer day is long - but man, when he gets going, he's unbeatable. Personally, I think he overdoes the ya-ka-ka-ka kookaburra cry a little, but nobody else is even close as a performer! So, there you go. No doubt I'll get an e-mail from some hardcore fan or two thinking it's "gay" cos I'm not listening to metal every day, and that I should spend my life huddled in a pentagram, listening to Morbid Angel or Gwar with the blinds drawn - and for this I cower in disgrace, like a bloated Gollum in in my egotistical ramblings. For the record, I do happen to think Miles Davis' Kind Of Blue is the best record ever, but that's very closely followed by AC/DC's Back In Black, Led Zeppelin's Presence, and then the Beethoven Violin Concerto, with Krebbers and Haitink. So, as diverse as those are, they are my faves! Oh, and it's also OK to feel happy occasionally, really! And that's enough crap for the day - thanks for checking in, especially those of you who don't enjoy it, and Veruca's both! Peace,
