Listening to Wheel in the Sky right now. NO way does he sound like SP! NO way is he hitting the SP high notes! So reviewers that were saying that our completely nuts. And may I say Deen is too heavy on drums -- no finesse. Like a hard rock/metaler playing Journey material. Steve Smith has no concerns over replacement either. Of course this is just my opinion

I love this guy's post on melodicrock forum: neilmaclookalike posted: well.... JSS certainly isnt a "natural" is he?? Some of it sounds ok... bits quite good... but overall... nothing special really..and Journey need someone who has that "special" touch to his voice dont they..Perry had it in spades...Augeri had a fair share of it... inevietably JSS will get better in time..as he gets his head around the set and songs.... but.... well.... Im totally "underwhelmed" really..
...kinda like a "reasonable" attempt by a kareoke singer in a bar... it only really sounds "spot on" when Deen doubles up..or sings the real high parts.... its obvious Jrny will have to "tune down" a semi tone to help the guy out... and please do it fast guys..save JSS's embarrasment (this is of course much harder to do if "backing tapes" of vocals are involved... means a lot o messing about changing the key in a suitable pc programme)

I loved Perry up there - that's over and Journey WONT be the same for me I realize that, and honestly never even attempted to compare anyone with him cuz that doesn't work, it's like comparing David Lee Roth with Sammy Hagar joining Van Halen, not the same and never will be.
When Augeri came in was decent and I saw them a few times back in 99, and I didn't mind the stuff they did like remember me but the older tunes just didn't do it for me with him singing, I didn't get those GOOSEBUMPS Perry gave me in 94 singing them with the FTLOSM band but again I wasn't trying to match apples to oranges just was curious to see the new lineup (still a BIG fan of Neals playing).
JSS is a whole different animal, and again can't be "compaired" to either Perry or Augeri - I really like his voice and this solo cd he has is great (essential ballads) and of course I loved the rockstar movie stuff, old yngwie stuff and soul sirkus stuff, but after listening to these tracks I am confused at best wondering what is going on.
I did get 3 lawn seats for DTE show in Detroit, and have already posted and sold them for what I paid for them in about 20 mins time is all it took and someone jumped on them, I wonder if they have heard these clips yet, ah well either way no biggie its been almost 100 degrees out lately I don't feel like sitting outside on the lawn in the heat to see anyone in concert (especially with Lauren who wanted to go too) she is too young for being out there in this recent heat so long like that.
Was outside for like 45 mins today and just got ZAPPED of energy its too freakin hot, humidity made it feel like 105 the weather said today and tomorrow is even hotter they say.
Our ac is on 73 and its running all day but temp in the house is still 87 (hot inside too to me), think i will fill the tub with lukewarm/coolerside water and just relax a bit.

I'm with you Bill - it's too hot to even think about an outdoor concert! I must be too freekin' old to deal with these G.A. outdoor deals, I want a seat with a number on it in an air-conditioned building, lol. I don't know what's up with Journey either, this guy started off pretty good I thought. If Neal & co. are going to continue to call themselves Journey and do the classics, they better do something quick. What, I don't know. I don't think anyone is going to be able to pull it off on a regular basis...
