Jon is claiming that the reason they aren't going to Chicago to play DSB is because they are tired, want to be w/ family, etc., since they've been on tour. Did anyone here read ANYthing that even remotely mentioned the Sox or their management wanting UNJ to come and play??? I've read many, many "Googled" articles, but none that mention the current line-up being asked. Anyone?

I've NOT read or heard anything that the White Sox wanted the current line up of Journey to sing DSB. All the articles I've read ONLY mention that they wanted Steve Perry, so I have no clue as to what Jon would be talking about.
Could it be possible be that Jon is needing to get some kind of attention drawn their way, since Perry is getting ALL the attention now???

How rude!! He couldn't just say that he is happy Steve is representing the song? It sounds like sour grapes to me. I think that it justs chaps their behind that Steve has gotten more press in four days just by showing up to a ballgame than they have gotten during their whole tour! I can't believe how childish and pissy some of the people at BT have been about it either. What a bunch of whiners!! Everything I've read mentions that Steve is the "former lead singer", so it's not like they don't know that he's not with Journey. From the beginning it has been Steve Perry that they've wanted. They said last night that he is there "at the request of the players". They want him at all of the games now, and have even said that, if they win, they want him to be the grand marshall of the parade! Jon is claiming that the reason they aren't going to Chicago to play DSB is because they are tired, want to be w/ family, etc., since they've been on tour. Did anyone here read ANYthing that even remotely mentioned the Sox or their management wanting UNJ to come and play??? They want him to be the Grand Marshall? That's pretty cool! I think you are right, Arden. I just found it so incredible that Jon felt compelled to throw that comment in during his interview. He is such a jealous little whiner. I know they are all foaming at the mouth that Perry is getting so much love and appreciation from all the players, PLUS TV airtime! Just goes to show...UNJ can fool some of the people some of the time, but any real Journey fan (go White Sox!!) knows that the "dirty dozen" hits are Perry's claim-check to fame, not UNJ's. Someone else has said that it is interesting how Steve doesn't seek out the spotlight, but it comes directly to him. That's the mark of a real star. One who doesn't have to toot his own horn to get recognition. Cain needs to observe and learn!

Cain's always been a loser in my book, now he's just proved what a crybaby he is on top of it... Isn't that the truth! He even made some sort of reference as to how the song came about and that it was written around/backwards from his chorus of "don't stop believin'...". It's in the article from the Chicago Sun Times that is referenced in Sherbear's comment above. Boy, it's sure obvious that those guys are jealous and just can't get it thru their egos that SP is the reason for Journey's success and that people (who may not necessarily be die-hard fans) associate SP's name with the songs. He is THE VOICE, after all!

That brand new interview Cain did w/ the Chicago newspaper made it sound like Cain's friends & family are stalking Perry at the game to report back to him. Jon's friends think HE should have been the one to be at the game. Sounds like alot of sour grapes to me. I can picture Jon shedding salty tears right now and saying "it's just not fair", kinda like he did on BTM! LOL!! I bet they all !@#$ a brick when they heard that Steve sang.

Kinda figured the whining from UnJ would start, and kinda figured it would be Jon doing the first of the whining because of Chicago. Sherbear, love the Charlie Brown teacher sound reference, lmao! That's EXACTLY what Jon is doing. Whine, whine, whine...why wasn't it me? Whine, whine, whine...
Well Mr. "I Wrote All The Hits For Journey," you're even still trying to take all the credit for DSB, aren't you? Just couldn't stand it that Steve told the story behind that song the way all of us remember it, could you? And Steve wasn't nasty about it, either. Just told it matter-of-factly.
Grow up, Jon "Whinebag" Cain.
Hugs!! Lee Editing to say I've never read/heard anything about UnJ being invited to sing DSB either. I believe it's just wishful thinking on the part of UnJ, and the fact that they truly cannot stand the fact that Steve has all the press right now. Wish they'd just end this UnJ fiasco and stop. Just stop. I've had enough of their rhetoric.

Gee you would think Jon would just feel happy about getting attention from those other fans that go see their concerts, but I guess it's just not enough for him, He NEEDS more,so he does this whiney interview. It is real clear that Jon is definitely showing his jealousy over the fact that the White Sox WANTED Steve Perry & DIDN'T INVITE THEM to sing or come to watch the games. Oh well too bad for Jon!
I think it is FANTASTIC that Perry is recieving ALL this "positive attention" from the media & it is wonderful for all us Perry fans who love him too!!!
