That would be a really good name for a song. Do you remember the first song you ever heard SP sing? If so - what was it? The first one to the best of my knowledge is Lovin' Touchin' Squeezin' from the Captured album. (And yes it was an album!)

I think the first one I remember was Wheel in the Sky. It was playing on the radio, but the first one that made me stop and listen to that voice was Foolish Heart. It was actually hearing Steve solo and wanting more that lead me to start listening to Journey. That would be a really good name for a song. Do you remember the first song you ever heard SP sing? For me it was information overload, it was the early 80's and my older sister had all of Journeys LP's Escape was getting really big (plus mtv videos were starting up) and I was old enough to just start listening to groups from that era. She had all the LP's and I remember sitting with her in her room going over all the artwork and listening to her favorites - Infinity got alot of play as well as departure (little does she know, but I used to sneak in and listen to them with headphones on when she wasnt home too) shhh hehe I had lots to choose from Heart Queen Pat Benetar Styx Police etc (she had an afterschool job so she spent her funds on LPs) Anyways I think it was a combination of things as to why I kept going back to the Journey LP's of course for the beautiful artwork (as a kid I was into art bigtime) and then listening to the guitar (which even today I love the Journey guitar sound) and the chorus and of course the unique vocals, plus Journey wasn't one of the bands my parents censored - remember the whole rock is evil era? I still listened to the stuff they censored or said I couldn't buy or have, memorex tape copies of friends LP's to cassette on my handy 4lb cassette player with headphones - remember those LOL anyways I turned out not to be an axe murder so I guess they were worried about nothing... Actually one of the very first songs on guitar that I learned was the Journey song "DO YOU RECALL" so that is what brought me into the thread hehe. Those were some fun times, it was fun just remembering all that stuff, I gotta call my sister tonight and remind her of some of that funstuff we did as kids. Bill

;D That is a great story Bill.
After I posted the question I pulled up my Rhapsody and work and slipped on my headset and played Captured Side 4 :-) AHHHHH!! That was the first rock album I had ever bought and it was just a couple days after Christmas. I returned all the plaid clothes my grandparents got me to Shillito's and took the money up to the record department and had fun. Actually the reason I picked Journey was my DAD (OH! He would regret this later.) said "hey I heard these guys are good." I got that album that day and some others - went home and turned it UP!

I had the radio on and it was 1978 and Lights played over the airwaves and Steve had me hook line and sinker.

Wow, that was a long time ago. I had heard LTS and liked it, but on the way to work one morning I heard Open Arms and that was it! I spun a u-turn in the trusty Ford Pinto and headed straight for Record Bar. And was late for work, but it was worth it. I still have those 45's, too. And all of the Journey albums on vinyl.
:)sparkle (yes, I am very old, lol)

Sounds like my mom - she made me take down my Journey poster because Steve "had hair like a girl and his pants were indecent". LOL. It was the white "Wheel" outfit if memory serves... :)sparkle

Oh man. That's awful. My mom would probably have loved to do the same but my dad wouldn't let her. He bought me my first record albums. It was the Partridge Family and the Osmonds, but still... I still have a few 8 tracks. I showed them to my little nephew, he thought they were the strangest things he'd ever seen. sparkle I went home from school one day and ALL of my Journey posters, pix, plus other groups posters (Rush, REO, & Van Halen) ------ and all and I do mean ALL 300 + LPs were thrown away on garbage day.
