Thanks Bill & Lori I have meds that keep me drowsy so that helps.....lol Evil Strawberry you sure are evil lol your wtf sig. had me coughing a lot. lol I hope Stacey feels better soon. I am sadden by all the reviews don't get me wrong I am not a fan of the current line up & I never ever liked the fact that anyone other than Perry should sing the Journey songs, but I feel bad for Agueri he is just a tool for Jon & Neal to continue with this charade. When will they understand what everyone else already knows "Journey" is NOT Journey without Perry? Dam* if my 10 year old can understand that why can't they? Dean I hope you spill the NEWS before my meds kick in dam* it! Let me know if I need to take my signature off or better yet just take it off cause I'll be asleep all day today.

This just in... www.pennlive.com/entertainment/patriotnews/index.ssf?/base/entertainment/1152053715198300.xml&coll=1Def Leppard outplays Journey in Hershey CONCERT REVIEW Wednesday, July 05, 2006 BY KIRA L. SCHLECHTER Of The Patriot-News England might have lost in the World Cup last weekend, but it won the unofficial battle of the bands Monday night at Hersheypark Stadium, where pop-metal king Def Leppard shared a bill with American rockers Journey. The five-piece band from San Francisco started off with the title track from its latest album, "Faith in the Heartland," but it was marred by a muddy, too-loud mix that would plague the group throughout. Singer Steve Augeri struggled, both to be heard and to hit notes. Guitarist Neal Schon, however, was in fine form with his trademark clean, crisp tone and fiery solos. "Be Good to Yourself" was set off by great harmonies, but again, even when Augeri was singing alone, he was barely audible. Schon took over for a blistering rendition of "The Star-Spangled Banner" and played with plenty of embellishment. When drummer Deen Castronovo took over on vocals, things improved mightily. He blazed through "Where Were You" and "Keep on Runnin'," nailing high notes in a strong, steady vibrato without missing a drum lick. Augeri returned for the ballad "Lights," sounding a bit better after his break, but Castronovo surpassed him again on "Still They Ride." Augeri would at last redeem himself by set's end, singing the prom favorite "Faithfully" sweetly if a bit roughly, and the rocking closers "Don't Stop Believin'," "Separate Ways," and "Any Way You Want It" with plenty of muscle. He was pretty much out of voice by then, but the band was so dead-on that it didn't really matter. On the other hand, Def Leppard, which is known for its pristine live sound and obsessive attention to detail, didn't disappoint on either. Looking fit and honed, the five U.K. natives started with an oldie, "Let It Go," and the funky recent track "Make Love Like a Man." Singer Joe Elliott was much more consistent than his Journey counterpart, even though he doesn't hold the screaming high ones like he used to, as evidenced on the playful "Let's Get Rocked." He was solid on a lushly dramatic "Foolin'" and a stately "Hysteria," both set off by Phil Collen's lovely solo work. And his energy didn't flag, despite his questionable fashion choice of leather pants on a very hot night. The middle of the set featured tracks from the band's new collection of glam-rock covers, "Yeah!" They were hardly covers, though, as Lep made them sound like its own, and the crowd didn't let the band down in enthusiasm. Badfinger's "No Matter What" was bright and sparkling, and T. Rex's "20th Century Boy" had a terrific stomping groove. But it was the sexy, sinewy take on David Essex's "Rock On," kicked off by a wonderful bass solo from Rick Savage, that was the real highlight. The last portion of the show drew heavily from the band's two multiplatinum '80s albums, "Hysteria" and "Pyromania." Lep ended with a beefy and suitably anthemic "Rock of Ages" before coming back to encore with the elegant "Love Bites" (which featured a dreamy final solo from Vivian Campbell) and the crowd-pleaser "Pour Some Sugar on Me." While the concert was on the eve of the Fourth of July, it was the Brits who shot off all the fireworks. KIRA L. SCHLECHTER: 257-4763 or kschlechter@patriot-news.com.

Some people are saying this is a "good" review ( ??) Either Deen better get over his apprehension to stand out front with a mic, or they better get a new singer, like YESTERDAY! Can you imagine paying to go see this farce happening?

These reviews sure are getting worse for Journey! It is a good thing that Journey toured with Def Leppard. Sad to say, but had Journey not toured with them, the fans that went to the concert may not have had much to enjoy for their money's worth.
And where is Deano with that NEWS that he said to stay tuned for???

The only explanation for someone saying it's a good review is maybe they had one too many trips to the Kool-aid stand at the concert? I did hear they were giving away free T-Shirts for repeat customers. Seriously though after reading that review I don't know how anyone could think it was a "good" review.

Can you imagine paying to go see this farce happening? When I go to a concert I want to see a GOOD show. Fans pay good money for a concerts & deserve to have a singer that CAN SING, that is the job of a singer, so it is rediculous not to cancel when they KNOW the singer is having this kind of major voice problems. Well I read over at the MR Journey board that Mark & Brian Show were talking about Augeri's vocal problems & using tapes. I guess that might have been the NEWS Deano was referring to, but not for sure on that though.

This excerpt is probably why the Journey Faithful are saying it's a good review:
To run a singer's voice into the ground like this is unforgiveable. I am not a fan of the new line-up, but I am really beginning to feel sorry for Augeri. He's just a puppet in this fiasco, someone else is pulling the strings.
I completely agree with your statement, Lori.
Sexxymofo, hope you get to feeling better soon.

I believe that without question it is Neal and Jon's pushing to prove that this incarnation of the band is the best and tightest ever that has brought them to this point. Neal's ego has been soaring out of control for years. He saw the opportunity to finally push the singer around and make the band all about him, and he has stepped way out of the confines of decency to do so. He has stated that he "wants to be a household name" in an interview. Well, sockboy is just going to have to do.
While Azoff may be a vicious sob, he is a smart vicious sob. No industry contract can force someone to perform if a doctor's statement declares they are physically unable to do so. Augeri could clearly get such a statement. I'm sure that the promoters and venues would have insurance to cover such things. I know that to be the case in the film industry. It is my understanding that Def Leppard is also with Azoff Management, and the events of this tour are now starting to pull their tour down. The promoters would not book DL or Journey separately. Journey is now a liability.
I'm having a hard time finding Augeri blameless in all this. Neal and Jon can only push him as far as he allows them to. He knows when he walks out on that stage the condition that his voice is in and whether or not he is going to be able to perform. To humiliate himself and Journey not to mention the position that Deen and his drum tech were put in was unconscionable. The first phone call that he should have made upon leaving the stage should have been to his doctor and the second should have been to his attorney.
The most frightening elements of this whole debacle to me are the rabid dogs that call themselves "Augeri supporters, Augeri fans, or TRUE Journey fans whose mentality is to form a prayer circle around Augeri, sing kumbaya and push him back out on stage to their maniacal squeals of glee. These people would truly eat their young!! They cannot seem to see that this man is suffering...physically, emotionally and mentally suffering!!! Yet they cheer to the sound of him blowing his vocal chords out doing possibly irreversible damage to his voice for their entertainment pleasure. With "true fans" like that who needs stalkers??

Great post ARden, I totally agree about the Augeriheads or whatever that bunch call themselves. He may be a wonderful person but he's about the worst front man I ever saw, I never could believe the bizarre loyalty he inspired. Being nice was probably Augeri's downfall, I bet Schon and Azoff ate him for lunch. I mean, he was working at the Gap for crying out loud, he probably signed his life away. Of course we know Schon isn't going to let a little thing like a lead singer's health stop him from becoming a household name, lead singers are a dime a dozen don'tcha know! If JSS works out as well as everyone thinks he will, (and he can put up with Schon) I'd be willing to bet Augeri's stone will be as cracked as his voice...

Ouch! Those guys better hope that JSS pulls them out of this or they will never get another decent review, just because of what they pulled with Augeri as their frontman. People don't just forget that stuff overnight.

Are they not going to do ANY interviews during this entire tour? I have to think you all would agree that is extremely odd for a band who is on a MAJOR tour with another MAJOR act?

Dean says (posted with his permission)
The blog is gone he deleted it - not Journey or anyone else.
I think he was just tired of all the bickering and since JSS is up there now he found no need to continue but those are my thoughts not his, he did confirm tho he removed the blog not anyone else.
said he was really tired and I bet he is from all that stuff...
So no more blog and I guess we will never officially know the did he or didn't he of it all.

It does seem very strange for a band that is touring , not to be doing interviews to promote their tour, but I guess, since all this stuff went on, maybe they are afraid or embarrassed to do interviews for fear the lip synching issue will come up, & don't have a real good reason or way to explain it to the fans. JSS is a real good singer, but for ME, it will always be Steve Perry!!! Lori

Rolling Stone checks in: Journey Vocalist Won’t Stop Deceivin’ In 1998, when Journey hired Steve Augeri to replace vocalist Steve Perry, they gave the former Gap employee a simple instruction: Sing exactly like Perry, which he managed to do with extraordinary precision. About a year ago, fans started to notice that, at every show, Augeri’s vocals were identical down to the smallest detail from. One Journey fanatic documented this apparent lip-syncing in thoroughly dork-tastic detail, complete with audio clips. When a couple radio DJ’s picked up the story, Augeri seemingly sang live, with disastrously croaky, off-key results. Last week, Journey put out a press release claiming Augeri was suffering from an “acute throat infection” and would be replaced by former Yngwie Malmsteen sideman Jeff Scott Soto. For those keeping track, Soto will be Journey’s fourth frontman. -- Andy Greene www.rollingstone.com/rockdaily/index.php/2006/07/10/journey-vocalist-wont-stop-deceivin/~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ This was posted at BT if you can believe it, although of course the discussion was promptly shut down. Extraordinary precision? That's a laugh. sparkle sparkle
